Trouble Uninstalling AVG

.Dear Computer Lady,

I have been following you for a while and enjoy your responses.

Right now I have a problem with AVG. I have been using it for a few years with no problems. About three weeks ago it stopped working. Nothing. Would not even start.

I tried installing a new version Would not even install. Now I am trying to uninstall and cannot. There are two AVG programs on my computer. The ‘Zen’ and the regular. One will not uninstall while the other is still on my computer.
I have gone to there web page to no avail.

Do you have any suggestions? Mike

Dear Mike,

I do have a suggestion for you.

AVG has a product called, AVG Remover.

When you run AVG Remover, it will eliminate all the parts of your AVG installation from your computer. This includes registry items, installation files, and user files.

It will also remove all your AVG settings, license information, and contents from the virus vault.

If you plan to re-install AVG, make sure you have a copy of your registration information to use when you re-install.

You can find AVG Remover at:
http://www.avg.com/us-en/utilities

I was writing above but somehow it kicked me out, leaving my comment with ALL BROKE LOOSE!
To end the comment, when I re-started, I had nothing on my Desktop, had lost all of my downloaded program icons, could not access AVG nor the Malwarebytes, nor could uninstall them. In a desperate move, I followed your advice once more and used the AVGremover. Now, three months later, I followed your new link and was able to re-install the Free AVG version (it took me three downloads before it took).

I also installed the Free Trial of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware; however, the second it was installed, I got a notice stating that my free trial had expired. Any idea as to why and what can I do? THANK YOU.

    Dear Computer Lady,

First of all, THANK YOU for the many years of great advice and information. Following your advice about 10 years ago, I installed the Free AVG version directly from the link you provided on the newsletter. It was wonderful and AVG protected my computer and kept me informed of any harmful possibility, which they would end up eliminating. Well, every year I’d receive their notice to update to the new yearly version and all great until the notice for the 2016 version popped up. As usual, I went ahead and accepted the notice and all began to ‘update.’ Once finished, I re-started the computer and practically, ALL BROKE LOOSE!

First thing that “I” would do is try and uninstall with ccleaner.

My next step if that did not work would be to go to the first system restore point prior to the problem starting.

Then, and only then, would I look at using AVGremover
