Control Panel Shortcut in Windows 10

Dear Computer Lady,

Is there any way to set up an Icon for Control Panel on Windows 10?

Thanks, Nita

Dear Nita,

There are several ways you can quickly open the Control Panel in Windows 10, and there is a way to create an icon for it on your desktop, taskbar and start menu.

First, to quickly access the control Panel in Windows 10, you can just right-click on the start button and find “Control Panel” listed in the context menu that appears.

Once you have opened the Control Panel, you can right click on the taskbar icon and click, “Pin This Program To Taskbar” in the context menu. This will give you 1-click access to your control panel right from the taskbar.

Another way to quickly access the Control Panel in Windows 10 is with a keyboard shortcut. Simply press the windows logo key and the letter X at the same time, and you will get the same context menu that you saw when you right-clicked on the start button.

If you want to add the control Panel to your start menu, you will need to search for it first. Just click on the start button, then type “Control Panel”. Once you start typing, the search box will appear. When a link to the Control Panel appears in the menu, right-click on it, and click on “Pin To Start” to place a link in your start menu.

Once you have the link in your start menu (you might have to scroll down to the bottom of the menu for newly placed links) you can drag the icon from the start menu to your desktop to place an icon on your desktop.

Hopefully this will help you set up your computer so that you can quickly access the Control Panel.

Elizabeth

You can DIY them, or you can download them. This link has a set of shortcuts for WIn 7, 8 and 10. You just copy the ones you want
