Transferring Files to Windows 8

Dear Elizabeth,

I am using Vista Operating System and have saved all my files under that system.

I am thinking of buying a new computer.

Can I transfer and run my files using Windows 8 which I will be purchasing?

Dear Mary Lee,

You will definitely be able to transfer your files to your new Windows 8 computer, this is something that I do for my customers all the time.

You will also be able to run your files on your new Windows 8 computer, as long as you have the same programs on the new computer.

Let me give you some examples:

If you have a list of favorite websites, you will be able to transfer your favorites to the new computer, and use them just like on the old computer.

If you have a collection of pictures and/or music on your old computer, they will be easy to transfer and use on the new computer. Windows comes with software that views pictures and listens to music.

If you have some spreadsheets that you created in Microsoft Excel on the old computer, you will need to make sure that you have Excel installed on the new computer before you will be able to open the files. The same thing applies to Word, PowerPoint, and other programs that create their own file format.
